Windsor Castle |
Windsor Castle is considered one of the ‘must see’ sites for visitors from Britain and overseas. It’s the largest and oldest occupied castle in the world, the home of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. It is one of the Queen's three official residences, and is often said to be her favourite. The Royal Standard flies over the Round Tower of Windsor Castle when the Queen is in residence - at other times, the Union Jack flag flies in its place. We may be able to see Changing of the Guard take place.

Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House is housed here, the most famous dolls’ house in the world and contains working lifts, running water and electricity, and took 1500 craftsmen three years to complete. St George’s Chapel has been the setting for many royal weddings and is the burial place of ten sovereigns.

The imposing towers and battlements of the Castle loom large from every approach to the town, creating one of the world's most spectacular skylines. No other royal residence has played such an important role in the nation's history. Samuel Pepys proclaimed the Castle to be "the most romantique castle that is in the world". That was in 1666, and the same is true today.
